The province's Francophone artists will have increased access to funding, thanks to a new grant program administered by the Saskatchewan Arts Board. The Portail culturel fransaskois initiative provides Francophone artists, arts organizations and groups with funds to support the development of artistic practices, and to engage artists and communities in diverse artistic activities.

"The fransaskois culture is unique in Canada," says David Kyle, executive director of the Saskatchewan Arts Board. "Through supporting artistic creation, production and presentation, this initiative will create increased public access to Francophone art in Saskatchewan and beyond."

The three streams of the program are Independent Artists, Project, and Touring grants. The deadline for applications is October 15, 2011. Application forms and more information are located here.

Portail culturel fransaskois is jointly funded by Canadian Heritage and the Government of Saskatchewan, and administered by the Saskatchewan Arts Board through an agreement with Saskatchewan's Francophone Affairs Branch, Office of the Provincial Secretary.

The Arts Board's mission is to cultivate an environment in which the arts thrive for the benefit of everyone in Saskatchewan. It serves the people of the province through programs and activities designed to build a strong and vibrant arts sector. For more information, visit www.artsboard.sk.ca.
