Applications are now being accepted for the Arts Entrepreneurship and Business Development course, offered by the Saskatchewan Arts Board in partnership with Creative Saskatchewan. The course assists Saskatchewan artists and arts entrepreneurs in developing sustainable careers or businesses in the province.

The course will be offered in four locations: Yorkton, Swift Current, Saskatoon and Regina. The deadlines for applications are:

  • Yorkton - September 9, 2015
  • Swift Current - October 21, 2015
  • Saskatoon - December 2, 2015
  • Regina - February 3, 2016

The course fee is $200 and application forms are available here and at www.creativesask.ca.

"We're pleased to build on the success of previous years' courses and offer this professional development opportunity to artists in both rural and urban Saskatchewan. We're looking forward to working with them as they build their careers," says Ranjan Thakre, Interim CEO of the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

"We are excited to participate in the offering of this course," says JP Ellson, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan. "In addition to the benefit to participants, development like this works towards increasing the province's economy through the creative sector."

The course consists of three two-day workshops, plus personal coaching sessions. By the end, participants will have a career or business model, a long-term plan to enact it, and a peer-to-peer or business-to-business network.

This is the fourth time the course has been offered. Filmmaker Luke Black took the Regina course in 2013. "The personalized coaching in the entrepreneur course prepared me to re-imagine my art as a sustainable career and gave me the courage to take my passion to the next level," he says.
